Acupuncture - what does it help for, what does it heal?
Acupuncture was established in China centuries ago. Currently, it is used all over the world, and it is also very popular in Poland. This method consists in piercing with gold or silver needles specific points on the human body in order to alleviate or eliminate various ailments.
What is acupuncture?
According to Chinese medicine, all internal organs contact the external environment through specific points on our body. When an organ disease develops, the points are usually painful, tense or slightly red.
The Chinese managed to locate more than 660 acupuncture points on the human body. Puncturing or massage helps to restore the body's energy balance.
What does acupuncture help?
The indications for the use of acupuncture are the following ailments:
inflammation of the respiratory tract, recurring infections and colds, pharyngitis, asthma;
headache and dizziness, migraine;
neuralgia, nerve paralysis, infantile palsy;
bladder dysfunction;
arthritis, rheumatism, discopathy ;
oral diseases, gingivitis, toothache;
gastric and duodenal ulcers, constipation, diarrhea;
myopia , cataracts , conjunctivitis;
deafness;
obesity;
alcoholism, drug addiction, smoking;
hypertension and ischemic heart disease .
How to choose a good therapist?
Acupuncture points are most often located in very sensitive places, near important organs. The proper performance of the procedure requires knowledge and experience. That is why it is best to approach therapists who have a medical diploma and many years of successful practice.
The more so because acupuncture therapy is always individual and usually requires from a few to a dozen or so treatments. Every sick person waiting for quick results should be patient.
Acupuncture - Does It Hurt?
During the procedure, the patient experiences tingling, heat dissipation, burning or numbness at the puncture site. These sensations are often prone to radiation throughout the body - it happens that they travel from the head to the lower limbs or vice versa.
Unfortunately, many people are completely unnecessarily afraid of this procedure. And pricking with very thin needles does not really hurt.
During the procedure, the points are pricked very gently and the patient lies down. The therapist individually decides how the needle is inserted and to what depth.
Related methods of acupuncture
The acupuncture points can be influenced not only by puncturing. Other fields of medicine have also emerged, dealing with the treatment of diseases by irritating these points. These include, among others:
They are intended largely for people who do not have enough strength to undergo the puncture procedure with ordinary needles.
Advantages and contraindications to acupuncture
One of the greatest advantages of acupuncture is that - when used professionally - it has virtually no side effects and is well tolerated by most patients. The key to success is finding enough inner strength and overcoming your fear of seeing needles.
However, not everyone can recommend it. Acupuncture is not recommended in cases of physical or mental exhaustion, in neoplastic diseases and in skin diseases. People with implanted pacemakers, young children, the elderly, pregnant women and people who drink alcohol should also not undergo procedures.
